The reason points spreads aren’t double or nothing (+100) is because sportsbooks charge a “vig,” or a fee for taking bets. For the LA Rams vs. Green Bay Packers game, BetRivers and DraftKings charged a 4.94% vig while FanDuel and William Hill charged a 4.71% vig. That’s a margin of 0.23%.
However, for the Baltimore Ravens vs. the Buffalo Bills game, the half-point hook added to the DraftKings and BetRivers lines essentially puts the vig at 6.98% when you compare it to the lines at FanDuel and William Hill, which would be 4.76%. That means you’re paying 2.22% more with the DraftKings and BetRivers lines.
